Learning and Living Together

Early Years

Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The Early Years (Nursery and Reception) are when our children develop their skills, knowledge and understanding to create a firm foundation for learning which they build upon as they move through the school. Our children are nurtured and supported to develop the characteristics of effective learning: playing and exploring, active learning, and creating and thinking critically.

Our curriculum includes the prime areas of learning: personal, social and emotional development, communication and language and physical development, which then feed into the specific areas of learning: literacy, maths, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

Teachers and teaching assistants across the Early Years classes provide a stimulating and enriching learning environment which is inclusive of all children, where they can explore, experiment and create through well planned, play based activities and experiences which reflect their diverse needs and interests in partnership with parents and carers.
